Victor’s Vectors: Garmin 696 gets worldwide nav databases

Aera560_HR_300.2 December is here!  The Christmas songs have started to play on the radio, Christmas lights are starting to appear around the neighborhoods, and flyGarmin is going through its own December upgrade.   This week I get to announce several changes to the flyGarmin website which will bring some early holiday smiles to some of our customers’ faces.

The first announcement is also a first for Garmin — the GPSMAP 696 and 695 now have a Worldwide Nav Database available.  This database makes them Garmin’s first portables to have a worldwide option.  With airport and airspace information from the US to Great Britain to Taiwan, the 696 / 695 have the information you’ll need at your fingertips.

The second announcement is that several new database bundles are now available for the aera 550, 560, and the G3X.  Database bundles allow customers to purchase multiple database subscriptions for substantial savings from that of the regular price.

The third announcement is that the ChartView key is now available for the G3X.  This key is an upgrade for those customers wanting to get Jeppesen approach plates for their G3X.  One big advantage of the ChartView to the FliteCharts is that Jeppesen has database coverage for all over the world while FliteCharts is limited to the US.  So check out the changes because it’s an early Christmas this year at flyGarmin.
