Two Continents, Two Events, One Great Week for Garmin Aviation

It doesn’t normally happen where the two biggest general aviation shows in spring align, but as it turned out, this year was an exception. Despite the dates for Florida’s Sun ‘N Fun Fly-in and AERO Friedrichshafen in Germany corresponding with each other, there was more than enough excitement to cover both events. Attendance numbers hit record highs at both shows and customers turned out to see our latest cockpit innovations.

Quite a Buzz!

AERO Friedrichshafen

The booths were packed, our seminars were full and the buzz was alive. The G5 electronic flight instrument was a popular commodity in the US and in Germany, as it took home the Flieger Magazine innovation award at AERO and created a frenzy of activity at Sun ‘N Fun where new DG/HSI capability was announced. At AERO, we introduced new free GTN training courses at AERO Friedrichshafen, highlighting the versatility and capability of the popular GPS/Nav/Comm series. Attendees were able to get hands-on experience using the avionics during these classes with guidance from our award-winning aviation training team.

New Aircraft Announcements

TBM 910 featuring G1000 NXi

G1000 devotees received good news last week as TBM announced their latest model, the 910, featuring our modern and more powerful take on the venerable flight deck – G1000 NXi. This release is aimed at pilots looking for the advanced capabilities of the TBM 930, but prefer the familiar look and operation of G1000 as opposed to the G3000 featured in the 930. Tecnam was on hand with their P2012 Traveler, recently upgraded with the G1000 NXi flight deck. Plus Piper Aircraft announced their G3000-equipped M600 model is making significant progress toward availability in Europe, as EASA certification is closer than ever.

Diamond Dart featuring G3000 avionics.

Diamond Aircraft was displaying several distinctive aircraft at AERO this year, including the “Be Unique” gold-painted DA50-V featuring G1000 NXi along with their new DART military trainer featuring G3000 avionics. And on Friday, Quest Aircraft announced EASA approval for their versatile Kodiak, a 10-place single-engine turboprop.

Now the preparations for Oshkosh are underway and trust us, you won’t want to miss it. Stay up-to-date with all the latest products announcements, news and stories by following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
