Tour of Missouri: Relive Team Garmin’s triumph

VdvpodiumThis has been a September to remember. It’s a good thing our cameras were rolling. The first weekend of the month, Team Garmin thrilled our employees and their guests by spending an afternoon signing autographs and answering questions in a candid conversation in our auditorium. Click here for videos of the team introductions and Jonathan Vaughters and Matt Johnson discussing the Edge 705 cycling computer. The next day, nearly 200 Garmin employees and guests joined the team for a group ride and lunch at Chipotle, a fellow sponsor of the team. Click here for Flickr pics of the event.

All of this, of course, was building up to the Tour of Missouri, for which Team Garmin had the perfect plan to capture the crown. "We may lose six of the seven stages," Vaughters told the Garmin group, "but the one stage we win will make the difference." True to their word, Team Garmin stormed the time trial, taking four of the top nine spots, including a convincing victory by Christian Vande Velde. His margin stood up to four days of challenges, and – as you can see from the video below – he finished the week wearing the yellow jersey … and a huge smile.

For more footage of Team Garmin, go to our YouTube channel for clips of Christian’s photo shoot, his thoughts before the race began, the team’s training ride through the Kansas City area and various ways the Edge 705 helps them excel. And we’re always adding more pictures to our Flickr page, including hundreds from the Tour of Missouri and employee shots from the weekend events.
