Tour of Missouri: How Edge 705 gives Team Garmin an edge

Cavendish On Monday before the official start of the Tour of Missouri, we spoke to a couple Team Garmin riders about the Garmin Edge 705 bike computers they use for training and racing. Check out this video for some insight from Steve Cozza, best young rider in last year’s ToM, and David Zabriskie, 4-time national time trial champion. Then hear team physiologist, Allen Lim, talk about how Edge helps the riders tailor their training.

Speaking of tailor-made, one Edge feature that suits pro cyclists and weekend warriors alike is the ability to easily customize the data screens. It’s so easy, in fact, that just minutes before Monday’s start, Zabriskie decided he wanted to show distance as one of the six data fields currently configured on his Edge. Knowing that elevation changes wouldn’t be much of a factor in the relatively flat Missouri countryside, he was able to easily swap out elevation for distance. Just look at the smile on Speedy Z’s face as he shows his custom Edge 705 to the competition at the start line. Cavendish may have won that stage, but Team Garmin has the edge. Currently in first place in the GC, Team Garmin hopes to prove their edge in today’s time trial in Branson. Stay tuned here for race updates and visit our Flickr page for photos throughout the week.
