Want to buy something for that special runner in your life? Need some ideas for yourself? What follows are some of my favorite running related (and some not-so-related) gift ideas. I’ve tracked down some discount codes as well.

1. The Grid from TP Therapy– massage on the go. You don’t go to the dentist every time you need your teeth cleaned and you shouldn’t have to go to a massage therapist every time you need to work out a kink. TP Therapy has loads of products you’ll love, but The Grid is my favorite (they also have a mini travel version). They’re offering 15% off everything (except for The Grid) on December 2 using code: TPPCM

2. I love Polk’s UltraFit 3000 runner headphones, the high performance sound they’ve mastered over the past 40 years won’t disappoint. For times when you’re not sweating on the trails or roads, try out the new offerings from the stylish Heritage Collection – 20% savings is in effect November 28th  – December 7th.

3. Body Glide keeps runners from chafing in those high friction areas: thighs, armpits, and the (ah-hem) crotch region. It’s super easy to use – rolls on like deodorant – and is a great stocking stuffer for $7.99.

4. PowerBar fueling works. Check out this slide I stole borrowed from Trent Stellingwerff detailing Asker Jeukendrup and Zibi Szlufcik’s fueling data on Haile Gebrselassie during his 2:04:26 world record performance at the 2007 Berlin Marathon:

Power

If you stuff their stockings with PowerBars I can’t guarantee a world record but I can guarantee you’ll get 15% off through Cyber Monday using this promo code: PWRHOLIDAY13

For those into fueling your activities, The Feed delivers PowerBars and other nutrition customized for you straight to your door and they have a Cyber Monday offer for 50% off your first months’ box! Plus, it comes with a free Garmin-Sharp Podium Bottle! Check it out.

5. The NormaTec MVP isn’t going to fit into any stockings but their pulsating compression technology is top notch and will super charge your recovery. During their holiday sale you can get one for $1,595 (regularly $1,750).

 6. CEP Compression is backed by parent company Medi’s 60+ years of experience and utilizes the science behind what made them the standard in medical compression to help athletes maximize performance and recovery. Their graduated compression – tighter in the ankle, looser in the calf – brings blood back to the heart. I love their new night socks that have a reflective strip for greater visibility. They have 40% off all their clearance items, now through 12/4.

7. OK, so I love music. I have a library of 50,000+ songs and I’m a sucker for vinyl – with that said, one of the new items I love most is the Camden Square from Polk – a portable, shareable Bluetooth wireless speaker. Up to four devices can connect to it at once using Polk's DJ Stream app for iPhone and Android and up to 100 can vote on the songs. Here's a cool animated video breaking it all down.

Some other cool items for the music lover:

  • The Buckle over-ear headphones have a cool retro-futuristic look and come in gold & brown and black & silver (usually $249.95, available for$199.96 until December 7th).
  • The Hinge foldable on-ear headphones take the same retro design cues from the Buckle and deliver them in a form factor perfect for travel (usually $179.95, available for $143.96 until December 7th).
  • The Nue Era in-ear headphones were recently rated #1 portable headphones by Consumer Reports (usually $99.95, available for $79.96 until December 7th).

8. If you’re a triathlete, or a runner looking for some cross training, take advantage of XTERRA Wetsuits holiday sale. I went for a swim the other day in their Vendetta suit – it didn’t disappoint; they make the fastest and most flexible wetsuits on the planet.

9. Oakley has killer gear for the fitness freak, and you get a $10 promo card for every $50 spent on Oakley.com  November 16th – December 2nd.

10. Last but not least, we have the Garmin Forerunner 620; it has tons of new features like automatic uploads to Garmin Connect, live tracking and social media sharing. I LOVE mine.

    • An item I haven’t used yet but has been getting rave reviews is the Garmin VIRB:

      • In my spare time I love getting out on the links so I’ve asked Santa to hook me up with the Approach S4 GPS Golf Watch, pre-loaded with 30,000 golf courses, this watch will be the perfect companion out on the course.
