The G600  is fully certified, shipping, and the first customers installing them are starting to call to ask what they need to do with all these new databases.  That’s not surprising considering these customers are upgrading from steam gauges to a glass cockpit.  Here is a little break down to help the transition go a little easier.

The G600 has the capability to display six different databases.
1.    NavData
2.    Obstacle
3.    Terrain
4.    SafeTaxi
5.    FliteCharts or
6.    Chartview

These databases are able to be downloaded from www.fly.garmin.com (except Chartview which requires a Jeppesen subscription).  The NavData is downloaded onto a spare SD card then downloaded into the G600 through the top SD card slot.  All other databases are downloaded onto the supplemental database card which goes in the bottom SD card slot on the G-600.  I hope that makes things as clear as glass.
