Taming the Monster Mile: Take two
The Sprint Cup heads to The Monster Mile this weekend in Dover, and driver Elliott Sadler and the No. 19 team will try to tame the track on Sunday with a strong finish. After a top-10 qualifying effort in June, an early race incident caused severe damage to the team’s car resulting in a 42nd-place finish. And after that less-than-satisfying finish at Dover, the team is ready to hit the 1-mile oval with a vengeance! "Unfortunately things happened and we were unable to compete at the level we would have liked, but that just means that we are going to try that much harder this time around," Elliott said.
With only nine races left in the season, the team will race with the No. 19 McDonald’s paint scheme this weekend, before heading to the sunflower state to show off the new Garmin paint scheme at Kansas Speedway the following weekend. To date, Elliott has had two top-five and six top-ten finishes, and is currently 23rd in driver points. Tune in Sunday afternoon to ABC to catch the race action that begins at 1 pm ET. And make sure you check back here next week, as we’ll be bringing you pictures, stories and more of the team’s trip to our very own back yard!
