Surviving a Meltdown

Saw lots of Garmin fitness devices in use by other athletes on the course too. It
was perfect race weather—overcast and temps in the 60s. Despite the
fair conditions, I think I can speak for the group by summarizing the
race in this: hills kill. We were somewhat prepared for the rolling
hills on the bike portion, especially if we prerode
the course. But the unrelenting elevation changes on the run wasted
most of us. Notice the difference in our group’s "prerace" and
"postrace" pics. We still enjoyed a great day of racing and a chance to
put our fitness devices and training to the test. Check out the course
metrics for the duathlon in our online analysis program (soon to be
Garmin Connect): run 1, bike, run 2.
