Today is stage 18 of the Tour de France and cyclists are facing their most difficult ride yet. Riders start in Gap, France and quickly increase their elevation as the day moves forward into Alpe d’Huez.

L’Alpe d’Huez became famous in 1952 when it was a stage in the Tour for the first time. Since then, Alpe d’Huez has been a Tour stage 27 times and 21 winners have had a sharp bend on Alpe d’Huez named after them for winning the mountain.

Along with its history in the Tour, Alpe d’Huez has become known for being the loudest section of the Tour. Combined with the difficulty of the mountain and the two loops cyclists make up and around Alpe d’Huez, there is bound to be excitement.

To celebrate the most popular part of the Tour, Slipstream Sports has released two posters of the famous France mountain range. Click here if you are interested in supporting your favorite cycling team!
