Snow, rain, sleet, hail… Perfect for cyclocross
For most of us in the Midwest, we find ways to avoid the ice and freezing rain that hit Kansas City over the weekend and are expected to return this week. But one group is looking at the frigid conditions as just another challenge in an already grueling competition. If you want to meet the type of athlete that we had in mind when we were working on the brand-new Edge 705, check out the Cyclocross National Championships at Wyandotte County Park.
Think of it as steeplechase meets Tour de France in the great outdoors – and it’s all right here in our backyard. The course is being hailed as tough for riders but great for spectators, so bundle up and head to 126th and State in KCK. Competition will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and it wraps up Sunday with the sport’s best starting at 8 a.m. You can read more about cyclocross in The Kansas City Star and The New York Times.
