Setting Alerts for Abnormal Heart Rate

Compatible Garmin wearables can notify you when your heart rate unexpectedly goes above a specified threshold. If you’re inactive for 10 minutes or more, and your heart rate stays above your set threshold, you’ll get an alert on your wearable.

Set It Up on Your Wearable

If you have a vívosmart® 3, vívomove® HR or vívosport®:

  1. Go to Heart Rate Settings on the watch.
  2. Turn on Abnormal Heart Rate Alerts.
  3. Set the heart rate threshold that will trigger your on-device alert.

If you have a vívoactive® 3 or vívoactive® 3 Music:

  1. From the watch face, swipe up to the heart rate widget.
  2. From the heart rate widget, hold the screen to open the menu.
  3. Select Heart Rate Settings > Abnormal Heart Rate.
  4. Turn on the alert and, if desired, adjust the threshold value that will trigger your on-device alert.

If you have a Forerunner® 645, Forerunner® 645 Music or Forerunner® 935:

  1. From the watch face, press the down key until the heart rate widget appears.
  2. From the heart rate widget, hold the up key to open the menu.
  3. Select Heart Rate Options > Abnormal Heart Rate.
  4. Turn on the alert and, if desired, adjust the threshold value that will trigger your on-device alert.

fēnix® 5 and fenix® 5 Plus Series coming soon.

Garmin wearables are not medical devices.
