A large part of learning how to fly is just that – spending a number of hours behind the controls of an airplane practicing maneuvers and perfecting landings. Oftentimes, many of us do not consider the importance of what we do on the ground to be as significant as what we do in-flight. Adhering to air traffic control instructions on the ground while taxiing an aircraft is unquestionably just as important because in most cases, our safety and the safety of others is dependent on doing it correctly.

As pilots we can do a number of things to enhance our situational awareness in all phases of flight and geo-referenced SafeTaxi airport diagrams are great examples of using "all available resources." SafeTaxi is helpful to reference, particularly when exiting the runway and receiving your taxi clearance from tower or ground. Even more, SafeTaxi geo-references your position on the airport diagram, so locating yourself (sometimes the hardest part!) is simple.

Maybe you visit smaller airports that typically do not have airport diagrams? Garmin has you covered! On Garmin portables and certified avionics, over 540 airports that do not have official airport diagrams are incorporated into our SafeTaxi database using advanced Garmin-created imagery. Check out the coverage we offer for the U.S., Europe and Canada below:
