Ryon Lane beats all odds

Backyard_burn Garmin farther We love hearing from fitness customers who are able to accomplish their goals with the help of Forerunner to mind their miles, pace and more. But the email we got from Ryon Lane on Monday, after running a sub-3 hour marathon at the New York City Marathon, had quite an impact, as well as an unbelievable back story. Here’s what Ryon wrote: “I can honestly say that it was my Forerunner 405 that guided me and allowed me to be disciplined enough to run a 2:58:37 yesterday in the NYC Marathon. The Virtual Partner setting is an amazing tool and became such an integral part of both my training and the success I enjoyed during yesterday's race. Thank you for making such an awesome training partner in the 405. I am a Garmin runner for life.”

Broken_neck The rest of the story: Clocking a sub-3 hour marathon is a feat few can ever achieve, but Ryon is far from your average runner. A former ultrarunner, Ryon’s running passion took a cruel twist two years ago after a freak swimming accident. Following spinal fusion surgery, rehab and training, Ryon has logged 2,000 miles since his accident. And now he’s using his experience to help others. To date, Ryon has raised more than $5,000 for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. To Ryon and Team Reeve: we applaud your efforts and we’re glad Garmin was able to play a part in achieving your goal.
