What can an Air Data Computer do for you?  Many things when tied to a GNS 530/430.  Once you realize what an Air Data computer can do, you will wonder why you did not install one sooner.  Those getting the WAAS upgrade will pick up a new feature. When doing a holding pattern with the GNS 530/430 you will see a wind corrected holding track instead of the normal oval shape.  This will make you look you look like a pro because every holding pattern will be perfect. An Air Data computer will take airspeed, heading and temperature information and input those into the Density Altitude/TAS page in the Aux section.  With this information, you will be able to get winds aloft information in real time.  On the navigational maps pages, you will see a wind vector arrow appear showing you the direction of the wind.  Oh, and just as a disclaimer…it is not Garmin’s fault when you start noticing that wind vector always pointing to the nose of the airplane.

The first picture is with the WAAS hold and the second is of the same approach without WAAS.
