Pete McLeod Finishes Third in 2017 Red Bull Air Race Season
The 2017 Red Bull Air Race season came to a close last weekend in Indianapolis, concluding the most successful campaign yet for Garmin sponsored athlete Pete McLeod. In spite of a Round of 14 elimination on Sunday, McLeod managed to secure a third place-finish in the world championship standings, his best in six-years competing.
Indianapolis was primed for a photo finish in the world championship rankings, as four pilots were in title-contention prior to the race: Martin Sonka, Yoshihide Muroya, Pete McLeod and Kirby Chambliss. When the race dust had settled at the end of Sunday, Muroya of Japan stood atop both the Indy race podium and the world championship podium. Martin Sonka of the Czech Republic finished out the season in second place, followed by Canadian McLeod in third.

In addition to the great world championship finish, McLeod won the 2017 DHL Fastest Lap Award, given to the race pilot with the most qualifier wins throughout the course of a season. Four consecutive top-qualifier positions in Chiba, Budapest, Kazan and Porto made him an easy winner.
