Peg’s Posts: Hood-to-Coast … we’re there

FeaturepegspostsFor the first time ever, Garmin will have three teams represented at the 27th annual Nike Hood to Coast relay. Hood to Coast is the largest running relay in the world, spanning 197 miles from Oregon’s majestic Mt. Hood to the beaches of Seaside, Oregon. Over 12,000 runners, in teams of up to 12, cover the distance in times ranging from sub-17 hours to 30+ hours. The course record stands at 15:44:55, snagged by an elite men’s team from Nike in 1995. Our three Garmin teams include one from our Garmin AT division in Salem, one from our Dynastream division in Alberta, Canada, and one from the home quarters here in Olathe, Kansas. We’ll have technology on our side in the way of Forerunner training devices and one of the team members from Canada is a tri coach who’ll be devising some training plans. Check out the Hood to Coast video for colorful commentary from past participants. Be sure to watch for the duck-billed dude. Stay tuned for reports on our training in the months leading up to the “mother of all relays”, Aug. 22-23, 2008.
