On the Mississippi with the GSPMAP 740s

Captain Ryan Casey of Show Me Catfishing in St. Louis, MO, and Scott Turnage, host of G3 Sportsman, recently sent us this clip that describes how they've been using the GPSMAP 740s to land some huge catfish on the Mississippi River. Here's what they had to say about their latest adventure and how the 740s helped every step of the way:

An important tool in locating and catching trophy catfish is a graph. With Show Me Catfishing, Ryan has to be able to target big cats for his customers. The Garmin GPSMAP 740s not only located bottom feeding catfish but let us mark each location for future reference.

Drifting over structure, in 50-foot depths, the GPSMAP 740s allowed us to control our speed and watch the screen as we spotted fish. The luxury of having Garmin charts (with touchscreen capability) also allowed us to cruise certain areas of the Mississippi River with peace of mind. Most units aren't as detailed on rivers but our 740s spotted old pylons, dykes, and channels, giving us the freedom to fish areas we never could before.

Armed with the proper tools, any of us can be a better fisherman if we know what to look for. The Garmin GPSMAP 740s will not only locate fish, structure, temps, and depths but also the mapping system allows you to mark waypoints and routes for future trips.
