New VIRB Mounts Compatibility
With the release of the new Garmin VIRB X & XE, it’s time to read up on which old mounts work with your new VIRB X/XE. Nearly all of the Garmin VIRB & VIRB Elite mounts are back with the new camera, including a variety of tube mounts and strap mounts. Some VIRB mounts have a threaded collar that holds the toothed linkage in place. Threaded collar mounts can be used with VIRB X/XE by using the part shown below. Simply remove the threaded collar and replace the toothed linkage with the friction flange linkage. The friction flange linkage is included in the box with VIRB X/XE units.
The following threaded collar VIRB Elite mounts work with the new VIRB X/XE when the friction flange is inserted:
- Adhesive Mount Bases – Flat and Curved
- Large Tube Mount
- Small Tube Mount
- Short and Long Dog Harnesses
- Wrist Strap
The VIRB and VIRB Elite mounts that can be used for VIRB X/XE after without any changes are:
- Tripod mount
- Head Strap Mount
- Vented Helmet Strap Mount
- Auto Dash Suction Mount
