Being headquartered in Olathe, Kansas, we could be a bit biased, but we think you should plan your next racecation destination in the breadbasket of America. Take a look at these 5 races if you’re interested in cool Spring and Fall temperatures, relatively flat courses, and historic cities and hidden gems in the heart of the Midwest.

Big 12 Run – March 11, 2017

Kick-off the month of madness in this 5k/12k race! Run through downtown Kansas City in your favorite Big 12 team’s colors. Kansas City is known for its “flat as a pancake” landscape and mild spring temperatures, making it a perfect route for the beginning of spring running season.

 

Garmin Marathon   – April 22, 2017

If themed runs are your jam, you won’t want to miss this Wizard of Oz race. Located In the hometown city of Garmin’s headquarters, you can choose to register for the marathon, half marathon or 10k, and bring the kiddos for the Munchkin Marathon run! All participants are encouraged to dress up in costume and follow the yellow brick road to beat yesterday.

 

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Chicago – July 15-16, 2017

If you’ve run a Rock ‘n’ Roll race before, you know it’s a party from start to finish. This two-day tour stop in Chicago is known for it’s downtown city course and beautiful lake front views. Sign up for the Remix Challenge and run the Saturday 5k and the 10k or half marathon on Sunday and receive all 3 medals! Think you have what it takes to run in the Windy City?

 

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon St. Louis – October 14-15, 2017

Run one of the most scenic courses in St. Louis with start and finish line views of the Gateway Arch, picturesque neighborhoods and fall foliage. Enjoy two days of the health and fitness expo as well as the 5k on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday. Make it a weekend racecation and explore downtown for music, food and history.

 

KC Marathon – October 21, 2017

The KC Marathon offers multiple event options including a marathon, half marathon, 5k run, team relay and a kids marathon. The relatively flat course takes you through the heart of downtown Kansas City where you can see historic buildings, landmarks and cityscapes. Fall in KC means cooler temperatures, ideal for race day. After the race, stick around for the Finish Line Festival and treat yourself to food, drinks and entertainment!
