METS Announcement: Stay in Control with Garmin Helm
Put the full functionality of your chartplotter at your fingertips with Garmin Helm. Garmin Helm is a free mobile application for iPad and iPhone that allows boaters to view and control their multi-function chartplotters if away from the helm. This allows you the freedom to freely move around while still maintaining full functionality and visibility of your chartplotter.
From a list of screenshot thumbnails, Garmin Helm allows you to choose which chartplotter you want to interact with if more than one is installed on your boat. Once selected, you are able to interact with the chartplotter and any desired features as if you were standing in front of the unit itself. 
Garmin Helm can support up to 5 mobile devices at once and has built-in safety features that allow for mobile access and control to be restricted or limited to ‘View Only’. If you want to be even more cautious than just viewing mode, Garmin Helm can be completely disabled and may only be re-enabled from the chartplotter itself.
At launch, Garmin Helm will be compatible with the GPSMAP 8000 Glass Helm Series and GPSMAP 8500 Black Box Series. For a wireless connection, the Garmin Marine WiFi Adapter (sold separately) is needed.
