We hate to name-drop, but when a guy like Ryan Hall is going to be next door, we can’t let that go unannounced. This weekend, thousands of runners will be in New York City for one of the most popular marathons in the world. If you’re among the lucky ones there for the big race, head to the packet pickup and expo and you just might get to meet Ryan and other famous athletes who train with our Forerunner 405. He’ll be signing autographs on Saturday, 3 – 4:15 p.m. in the Asics area adjoining the Garmin, booth (#332). Ryan is currently the American record-holder in the half marathon with a time of 59:43. This record-setting time paved the way for his marathon debut. Last year in New York, he awed the crowds with his 2:09:02 in the Olympic trials, earning him a trip to Beijing this past August. For more insight on this gifted runner who credits much of his success to a higher power, read "The Power and the Glory" from the September issue of Runner’s World. Stay tuned to the Garmin blog for updates on other athletes to watch for in NYC. For those who aren’t making the trip, you can still experience a piece of this race’s history. The film “Run for your Life”, on Fred Lebow, founding father of the NYC marathon, debuts in select theatres and is available on DVD today.
