Marathons and Work Week

FeaturepegspostsCheck out our new and improved marathons site where you can get the skinny on upcoming races Garmin’s sponsoring. Next up: the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon in San Diego on June 3. From the site, you can see a cool 3-D fly-thru of the race course and link to MotionBased for detailed data, including elevation profile and a map player. Plus, if you’re lucky enough to already own a Forerunner 205 or 305, you can download the course to your unit, which gives you the benefit of real-time pacing and course points.

This pic was taken this a.m. as Garmin cyclists rolled in to work. We’ve been racking up the miles this week for Bike to Work Week. How many, you say? Count ‘em — 2,500. And the day’s not over. One of the most prolific of the cyclists, with over 200 miles logged so far, has a 27-mile commute one way. Several others on the team have passed the century mark. This year, we’ve had over 50 riders on our team, the Bleeding Edge (appropriately named for Garmin’s Edge bike computer, which many of the cyclists use to track their miles and other data). Right now, we’re in the top spot for a Kansas City-wide bike commuter challenge. Miles logged must be for commuting or errands — anything that replaces a car ride. A lunchtime ride to Chipotle racked up 11 miles per rider for several from the team. Nice going team!
