Ask any pilot what one of the biggest advancements has been in the aviation industry during the past five years and they’ll immediately say avionics. And they’re right. The cockpit has seen revolutionary changes ever since we introduced the G1000 all-glass flight deck, and let’s not forget about our GPSMAP 396/496 mini-MFDs that give pilots affordable and portable weather. Now, if you ask the same pilot what they’d like to see improved about the avionics, you may hear them say they want a simplified way to update databases.

You asked for it, so we did it. You can now update your aviation databases in three-clicks directly from fly.Garmin.com.  This new site is specifically designed to help you manage your Garmin aviation products. It lets you keep track of databases like terrain, obstacles, AOPA, SafeTaxi and FliteCharts. We’ve designed it with simplicity in mind, so it’s easy for you to see if your databases are up to date. For example, information is color-coded — green means you’re good to go and red means you need to update your database. We’ll be bringing more features to this site in the future, but Oshkosh attendees have been thrilled with what they’ve seen so far. If you’re at Oshkosh, visit our booth at Hanagar D and we’ll give you a live demonstration. If not, you can tour the site on your own. Registering for the site is free.
