Local Boy Scouts Earn Geocaching Merit Badges

IMG_0191It was a chilly weekend at headquarters, but that didn't stop the local Boy Scouts from getting their geocaching merit badge!

Due to the weather, the scouts spent some time inside working with Garmin associates
to learn more about Geocaching as a hobby, as well as how to use the
OpenCaching site. Scouts were able to load a geocache on to their device then
head outside to find it. They were also able to check out which caches were
close to their homes and schools so they can go geocaching on their own after
they got their merit badge.

In true Boy Scout fashion, they were not phased one bit by
the cold weather or rain. Ready in their ponchos and raincoats, they were able to go outside and find the cache, and also test the durability of the GPS. The
scouts had a great time, and look forward to geocaching more once the weather
warms up!
