Mkak339_advert_20070607184700 If you haven’t seen the front page of today’s Kansas City Star, or read the advertising section of the Wall Street Journal, allow us take you out of the dark and let you in on something GREAT! The whole crew here at Garmin invites you to stay up late tonight (June 12) to catch NBC’s "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno, as we take the late-night show back to the good old days of live TV commercials…

While live TV ads were the way of the early days of TV, the late-night show hasn’t aired a live commercial in over 12 years. We’re excited to bring back this blast-from-the-past type of commercial that has already been drawing a lot of attention.

As a matter of fact, host Jay Leno has already been talking about Garmin’s live commercial. Last Friday as Leno was giving his announcer, John Melendez, grief about memorizing his lines and not using cue cards for the live Garmin commercial, Leno joked, "If you screw up and we lose this account, you’re in big trouble."

The 30-second comedy skit will appear shortly before the show is due to go to its second commercial break. Leno will toss to commercial, at which time announcer John Melendez, will perform a comic skit that depicts the nüvi 660 as a cure for those who have a hard time stopping to ask for directions. After the skit, the actual 30 second Garmin TV commercial will appear, and voilà!– a live TV commerical is re-born!

"The Tonight Show" airs tonight on NBC at 10:35 p.m. CST… don’t miss it!!
