inReach: Real stories from the Nepal earthquake

On April 25, 2015 at 11:56 AM a 7.8 magnitude earthquake shook Nepal, claiming the lives of more than 8,000 people and permanently changing the lives of countless more. As the dust settled, the world mobilized to provide relief and help the people of Nepal recover from such a devastating event.

There were over 50 inReach devices in Nepal when the earthquake struck, and in the days and weeks following they were used to help coordinate disaster assistance around the country. Climbers, guides, doctors and relief agencies depended on the inReach for communication and emergency response when it mattered most.

“The beautiful thing about Nepal is it’s so, so diverse. The people, the culture, the friendliness. It’s rugged. It’s rough. But it’s also green. The serenity of the Khumbu Valley and the trek up Everest base camp. You’ll never see that diversity in such a small country – anywhere in the world.”

This video takes a look at the diversity of Nepal and its people, while recounting two amazing stories of how inReach helped facilitate the long path to recovery. Special thanks to Eric Larsen and Samaritan’s Purse for providing the beautiful footage.
