Helping Fight Cancer From a Chairlift

DUKEDuring the past couple months we have been honored to be a sponsor of the “Vertical Challenge”, put on by Team Duke and the John Wayne Cancer Foundation– an organization that brings courage, strength and grit to the fight against cancer. Participants have been trying to ski/ride the most vertical feet their legs can possibly handle, while trying to raise money for this great cause. These skiers and riders, and even a few mountain climbers, have set up fundraising pages and challenged friends and family members to match their efforts with financial contributions. To record their vertical adventures, IMG_0625 Team Duke has asked these extreme fundraisers to track the activities with their favorite Garmin GPS products including the new Garmin Fit App and upload to Garmin Connect. Here, they can share the adventure with the rest of the community and easily keep track of the numbers so they can keep their focus on shredding the mountain. Check out the session at the bottom of the page, in Mammoth, CA, from Mandy and her Forerunner 910XT with oveDSC00744r 14,000 ft vertical this past weekend.

To date, this has been a HUGE success and there are still a couple weeks to go! So get out and explore and remember to send your vertical ft. and fundraising efforts to the amazing folks at Team Duke to be eligible to win great prizes like a 910XT, gear from UGG Australia, lift tickets from Mammoth Mountain and some killer clothing from Volcom.
