GTN Tricks, Tips and Shortcuts Series: Part 5
This week, we’re rounding out our five-part series highlighting features and shortcuts of the GTN 650/750 series. In Part 4 of our series, we discussed several new features available with the latest GTN software upgrade, including customized shortcuts, FastFind and customized checklists. Today, we’ll discuss how flight planning with the latest GTN software is faster and easier than ever before!
In addition to the new GTN software, incorporating the Flight Stream 210 enables wireless flight plan transfer between the GTN and Garmin Pilot on select iOS or Android mobile devices. Flight Stream offers pilots even more flexibility, so you can complete your flight planning at home.
With the avionics powered on and a flight plan loaded within Garmin Pilot, select the Connext quick access icon at the top of the screen. From this menu, select Send to GTN and within a few seconds, you’ll receive confirmation your flight plan has been sent.
On the GTN, the MSG button will begin to flash indicating you have a new message. Selecting MSG on the GTN will indicate that you have a new flight plan to import. Selecting 1 New FPL will allow you to review the newly transferred flight plan. Once you review and confirm that you’d like to activate this particular flight plan, select Activate and you are ready to go flying!
To see Flight Stream in action, check out this AvWeb Product Minute demonstration video and for additional information, visit our Connext homepage.
These are just a few of many shortcuts, tips and tricks we’ve highlighted in this series. For additional information regarding the latest GTN software update, be sure to contact your local Garmin Authorized Dealer. In the meantime, if you’d like to practice some of these shortcuts we’ve mentioned in this series, download our free GTN PC Trainer or check out the GTN Trainer in the Apple iTunes store.
