Being an avid reader of my AOPA ePilot, I see a lot of articles with subjects like Presidential candidates viewpoints, delivery updates on VLJ, and happenings of aviation societies.  I was a little surprised when I found an article about a pilot rescuing a stranded man out in the desert.  I was also very happy to hear that a GPSMAP 396 helped in the rescue.  So much so that I had to mention it and point out that with any of the aviation portables you can easily create a user waypoint by pressing and holding the Enter button for two seconds.  This can help you navigate back to a scenic location, a nice looking fishing hole, or maybe even save a person’s life!
