GPS Magazine makes a splash with nüvi 500

While we’re certainly known for our rough and rugged gear, the crew at GPS Magazine recently took matters into their own hands and test our new nüvi 500. This rough-and-tumble nüvi is the prefect adventure-seeker with street map data, preloaded U.S. topographic maps, and a whole lot more. And when we mentioned the nüvi 500 was also waterproof to IPX7 standards, GPS Magazine decided to do a bit of semi-scientific research. They dropped the waterproof multi-mode nüvi 500 and a waterproof watch into an aquarium – waited 30 minutes – and reported the results. Of course, they also recorded the whole thing for your viewing pleasure. Now, if your nüvi 500 is underwater for this length of time, you may have bigger problems to worry about and we don’t really recommend this – we’d rather you spent more time exploring with your nüvi 500 instead of submerging your nüvi 500. But it’s still good to know that an occasional downpour won’t leave you high and dry when you’re out and about.
