Google or Bing: you can choose at Garmin Connect
Ever since BK synced a slogan with the desire to “have it your way,” we consumers crave options. Now your freedom of choice extends to Garmin Connect, our online community for fitness fans and outdoor adventurers. Garmin Connect customers can choose from Google or Bing maps for viewing their uploaded activities. This upgrade gives users more mapping options than ever before.
Switching map views is as easy as clicking the pull-down menu in the upper left corner of the map and toggling between Google and Bing. Currently, Connect users can toggle to their heart’s content on the Dashboard or Activity Detail page — two areas where users spend the most time reviewing and analyzing activities. The Garmin Connect team is actively working to roll out the map selection to other areas of the site, including the Player, Course Creator and Explore, which allows you to search 70 million uploaded activities from around the world. In the meantime, these pages will continue to display Bing maps.
Choosing your map view is just one of the recent enhancements to Garmin Connect. The announcement of the Garmin Fit app expands Garmin’s trusted activity tracking and online analysis capabilities to iPhone and Android users. For athletes in training, Connect now offers the ability to create custom workouts and courses and send to compatible devices. Check out these features and “have it your way” mapping at Garmin Connect. To our dedicated Connect users: this upgrade will result in increased site traffic over the next few days, which could impact the speed of uploads, etc. Please be patient and know that we are focused on continual support to make the site stable and smooth. Just spend a little more time refueling or stretching after your workout and things will be up to speed shortly.
