Need a little motivation to help you stay on top of your training goals? Forerunner 405 and Garmin Connect have the answer. One of the newest applications added to the Garmin Connect site is goals. Goals are simply targets to help you achieve a short-term objective, such as number of miles, time or frequency of runs over a certain period. Once you create your goal in Garmin Connect, you can send it to Forerunner 405 via the wireless ANT+ technology. You can create multiple goals—even ones for cycling and other sports. Currently the 405 is the only device that will track your goals on the device itself. The screen shot above shows how the goal looks on Forerunner. It simply lists your goal and your progress, which is also depicted on a half-circle graphic. As you record activities with Forerunner, the graphic changes, showing you at a glance how close you are to meeting your goal. And once you wirelessly sync up your data in Garmin Connect, your goals are updated there too. What are my current goals? Building up mileage and frequency of runs for the Hood to Coast relay on Aug. 22 … balanced out with some road biking miles for cross-training. In GC, you can monitor past, current and future goals. And, if you’re using another Garmin device like Edge to record your cycling activities, you can track your goals in GC, but you just won’t have goals show up on your device. Gotta goal? Let Garmin Connect and your Garmin Forerunner or Edge help you stay on it.
