Geocacher’s Oregon Withstands the Elements for More Than a Year

After an unfortunate incident, Canadian geocacher Carni
Grewal thought he was out of luck. While caching in September 2011, he was
attacked by a swarm of angry wasps, and in the craziness lost his Oregon 300
and was unable to find the cache.

Grewal's OregonThe next day, he went back and attempted to locate his
Oregon. While he was able to find the cache without another wasp attack,
Grewal’s Oregon was nowhere to be found. Several of Grewal’s friends went
searching, but no one ever came across his rogue Oregon. Grewal kept a watch on
the cache, just in case someone was able to find his lost GPS.

Fast-forward to March 2013, and this incident had long since
been forgotten, until Grewal received this log: http://coord.info/GLADFWNW. Someone had found his GPS! After almost a year and
a half in the Canadian wilderness, it powered right up, and turned out to be about 200 feet
from the cache.

Grewal said, “I shared the story with my friends and family,
and many of them were shocked that it would still work. Thanks for making a
product that lasts…here’s proof!”
