Gary retired after 19 years at Garmin in December 2011 as the vice president of marketing, where he led the aviation, marine, outdoor, fitness and automotive segments. This award is the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the AEA’s board of directors.

Gary started his career in the avionics industry in 1972, where he worked for the general aviation avionics division of Allied Signal/BendixKing. He joined Garmin in 1992 as the director of marketing and went on to also serve as director of Garmin Europe from 1993-2004. Under Gary’s leadership within Garmin’s aviation segment, products such as the ever-popular GNS 430/530 and the G1000 Integrated Flight Deck were introduced.

The AEA board of directors will recognize Gary for his countless hours of volunteerism for the association, including his contribution as a board member and his leadership on the AEA’s Future Studies Report, a strategic plan developed in the mid-1990’s. Gary will be presented the 2015 Aircraft Electronics Association Lifetime Achievement Award at the 58th annual AEA International Convention & Trade Show on Wednesday, April 8, at Marriott’s Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Dallas, Texas.

Please help us congratulate Gary and thank him for his service at Garmin!
