Garmin Store: A Day in the Life…
For those of you who have yet to visit our Flagship store here in the Windy City, I thought it would be nice to give you a little tour of what we do here on a daily basis. Below, you will find a detailed account of how a real “Garmin Man” (or woman) spends their day. While not exactly like our beloved hero in our Super Bowl commercial, the “Garmin Men” (and women) here in the store do spend their days helping customers learn how to fend off the evil Maposaurus.
9:00 AM – Ride the ‘El, the bus, or walk to work. Notice how “drive to work” is not on this list. For those of you not familiar with downtown Chicago, parking here is either very expensive ($20/day or more) or impossible to find. Because of this, almost everyone uses public transportation to get to work.
9:45 AM – Attend morning meeting prior to the store opening at 10. Here we learn about what happened the day before, disseminate new information to everyone, and discuss strategies for ridding Chicago (and eventually the world) of paper maps.
10:00 AM – Store opens. Strategies mentioned in meeting go into full effect.
11:30 AM – Restock 1st floor product from 3rd Floor warehouse.
12:45 PM – Update customer’s nuvi 350 to the latest firmware at Solutions Desk.
1:30 PM – Lunch. There are so many great restaurants around here, it’s hard to choose. Delicious pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, burritos, sandwiches, salads, steaks, Chinese, or almost anything else you can imagine.
3:00 PM – Assist customer with purchase of a nuvi 680. Explain how to activate the MSN Direct service, and how to use it to avoid traffic and high gas prices.

3:45 PM – Go to 3rd Floor to speak with managers in our Operations Nerve Center. Find General Manager hard at work on a conference call.
4:30 PM – Give a customer a short training session on how to use their newly purchased Forerunner 305.
5:00 PM – Load a customer’s newly purchased Mobile 10 to their Smartphone. Give demo on how to use it to its full potential.
All in a day’s work!
