Garmin’s Own California Raisin

397207866_31e88d507eGarmin and MotionBased.com are working with cyclist Saul Raisin to upload rides from the Amgen Tour of California — giving folks a very rare glimpse into the progress of a professional-grade rider.  Care to take a look?  Click here to follow Saul throughout the tour — all from the non-taxing convenience of your computer.

As you’ll see, Tuesday’s 111-mile race had a stiff crosswind — the same wind that’s expected to usher in a cold and wet ride for the rest of the week.

397208640_ac873f2f10_2 Unfamiliar with Saul’s story?  It was less than a year ago that Saul was racing in France’s Circuit de la Sarthe and he was involved in a very serious accident.  Long story short, a blood clot formed in his brain and he was in a coma for six days.  Since then he’s been recovering and it’ll still be a while before he’s able to join the competitive circuit.

Meantime, he’s hosting the Raisin Hope Charity Ride, where riders will be raisin’ money (sorry) for various charities and non-profit groups that helped him through his ordeal.  It’s for a great cause, so get involved!

Stay tuned for more TOC updates.
