Garmin’s Definitive Guide to Oshkosh 2016

It’s okay, you can admit it. You’ve been thinking about EAA AirVenture Oshkosh since the day you left last year, right? Don’t feel bad – we all do. It’s the single week out of the year where binging on airplanes and all things aviation is encouraged. The world’s largest annual fly-in has a lot to offer, often more than can be seen in just a few days. With that in mind, it can be helpful to keep a short list of to-do’s while you’re attending the show. Here are a few recommendations.

See the latest and greatest aviation has to offer

Aviation companies from around the world use Oshkosh as a launch pad to announce their newest products – and we’re no different. We’ll be making some exciting announcements for the show, so be sure to set aside some time to stop by our booth, #322 on Celebration Way – just west of Boeing Centennial Plaza – to check out some cool products.

Attend seminars and workshops

Oshkosh is the place to learn anything and everything you ever want to know about aviation. Whether you want to learn how to fly with an iPad, or if you’re looking to get an instrument rating, or maybe you need to discover how to buck a rivet, you can learn it at Oshkosh. We’ll be offering daily educational seminars at our booth on topics ranging from flying with our popular aviation app, Garmin Pilot, to experimental, certified avionics and ADS-B solutions. See our schedule of daily seminars at the bottom of this post.

Check out the airplanes

Everyone is a prospective aircraft buyer or builder. Even if the need isn’t immediate, it’s always appropriate to be looking for the next airplane or the next project. Oshkosh is the best place to see hundreds of different types of aircraft. Not only can you check out the different models, but you can see how airplanes are uniquely equipped. Get an idea of how useful a GTN 750 would be in your Cessna panel, or how awesome a G3X Touch might be in your Vans RV. You may even have a chance to visit with the aircraft’s owner to get their opinion.

Look for a job

The Oshkosh job fair has been a popular part of the show since its inception a few years ago. Our HR team will be on-site and in our booth Monday-Friday during the show talking to candidates. If you’ve ever dreamed of working at Garmin, stop by and chat with us!

Relax and enjoy

Oshkosh can get overwhelming if you don’t take some time to simply sit back, and enjoy it for what it is – the world’s greatest aviation celebration. Even if you do have goals of learning new skills or sitting in on forums, be sure to set aside some time to watch the airshows, look at old and unique warbirds, chat with fellow aviation enthusiasts or simply catch up with old friends. There’s a reason hundreds of thousands of attendees keep coming back to Oshkosh year after year – the people and the atmosphere are unique and very special.
