With the help of their Garmin electronics and Nor-Tech 392 Super Fish, teams “Buyin Time” and “Off the Grid” placed 1st and 2nd in the Yellowfin Tuna division during the September 4-6 Mobile Big Game Fishing Club Labor Day Tournament.

A total of 91 boats set out on rough seas for the 48-hour event, while “Buyin Time” and “Off the Grid” each covered 400-600 miles to find their winning yellowfin tuna.

James Pieto from “Off the Grid” believes it was because of Garmin electronics that helped both teams locate the winning fish. “The GPSMAP 8215 is, in my professional opinion, the most user-friendly unit on the market today. Our two GPSMAP 8215 units, paired with a GSD 26 CHIRP module, gave us the ability to differentiate between the big fish and schools of bait. It was absolutely key for determining the quality of fish we were seeing on our chartplotter.”

Once both of the respective teams had boated their tuna, they utilized their radar with SiriusXM weather overlay to navigate through some serious conditions on the way to the weigh dock.

When it was all said and done, “Buyin Time” captured the 1st place yellowfin tuna, weighing in at 177 pounds and came away with $55,755 in prize money, which was the second highest payday of any boat in the tournament. Team members include: Angler Bryan Dumas, Mark Wade, Jeremy Moore, and Brandon Myer.
