Garmin goes out to sea with Grand Banks in the Northeast
This week we were in Newport, RI, and had the pleasure of joining the crew at Grand Banks Yachts for a sea trail aboard one of the latest additions to their growing fleet of luxurious yachts – the 72 Aleutian SC - fully equipped with Garmin marine electronics. On board this 72-foot, four-stateroom vessel, the 72SC has an impressive suite of Garmin equipment, including four GPSMAP 5215 touchscreen MFDs (two in the wheel house, and two on the fly bridge), a GMR 404 open array radar, GHP 10 Auotpilot, VHF 200 marine radio, two GMI 10 marine instruments, a GSD 22 digital sounder, and a GWS 10 wind sensor. After a quick dockside orientation and walk-through, we headed out of the harbor where we were able to see the "big picture" on the bright, menu-drive touchscreen plotters. And with the radar overlay, navigating the busy waters was simple and intuitive. With the warm weather, calm seas, beautiful scenery and stunning yacht – complimented so nicely by the Garmin electronics – we'd chalk this up to a very successful day at sea. For now though, it's time to head home and start gearing up for the busy fall boat show season ahead!
