Garmin Dash Cam: How to Use Automatic Event Detection
Dash Cam is one of our latest automotive products, a handy little camera that you can attach to your car’s windshield to record your drives. It provides peace of mind that if something happens on the road, it will be captured. This blog post gives a quick overview of one of the camera’s most interesting features: automatic event detection.
Dash Cam records video files in a continuous loop, so you don’t have to worry about deleting files all the time. The event detection sensor will automatically save the video files after an incident occurred, such as a collision, for example. Dash Cam comes with a built-in G-sensor, which measures the amount of tilt or acceleration within the device and detects shocks and bumps while you are driving. Dash Cam automatically saves the current, last, and next recordings, so you have the full sequence of what happened.
Before using the Dash Cam, make sure the G-sensor is calibrated correctly by going to TOOLS > EVENT DETECTION > G SENSOR RESET > OK. This will adjust and lock the G-sensor. When it senses a dramatic change, such as a collision, the camera will lock your video files to keep them safe from being overwritten. You can also adjust the G-sensor’s sensitivity by going to TOOLS > EVENT DETECTION > G SENSOR SENSITIVITY > OK.
Dash Cam 20 comes with GPS to track your location and is available now for $249.99. We also offer a version without GPS, the Dash Cam 10, for $219.99.
