Garmin-Cervélo Riding High Above The Clouds

IMGP0726 Entering the USA Pro Cycling Challenge in Colorado, the Boulder based squad Garmin-Cervélo had its sights on claiming victory in this inaugural world-class event. Tom Danielson, Peter Stetina and Danny Summerhill, all Colorado natives, are quite familiar with the high altitude roads through scenic Colorado and are poised to ensure that one of the argyle armada end up atop the podium IMGP0737 .

After the first day prologue time-trial, Christian Vande Velde (VDV) found himself in second place in the general classification, a mere two seconds behind the leader. Starting in the breathtaking Garden of the Gods, VDV powered his way through the mostly downhill 8km course and never looked back on route to starting off this week long event and demonstrating world-class form. Garmin's Dave Zabriskie was happy to be back in the states and proud to put on his Captain Dave Z America speed suit representing his national championship title in the time-trial discipline.

Heading into the third stage, and with three dayVail Time-Trials of racing above 8000ft, riders are beginning to show signs of acclimation to the altitude. Garmin-Cervélo now has three riders in the top 20, Danielson 3rd, VDV 5th, Stetina 19th and will be looking for a great result during today's uphill time-trial in Vail.
