Garmin-Barracuda Showing Great Early Season Form

20120225_0403The boys in argyle have been racking up top performances again this spring and are looking to continue their momentum into France in July and London shortly after.

The team’s time trial specialist, Dave Zabriskie, looks to be in top form this year with a stand out performance and stage victory in Malaysia during Le Tour de Langkawi and Garmin rider, Sep Vanmarcke found himself in an all out sprint in the final kilometers of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad race in Gent, Belgium– where he took the overall victory. Also, youngster, Michel Kreder performed a repeat of last season by winning a stage during the Circuit de la Sarthe and teammate sprint specialist and Garmin newcomer Thomas Dekker DSC_1071earned his first victory in argyle during that same race.

Heading into this past weekend’s classics race, Paris-Roubaix, Garmin’s Johan Vansummeren was looking to use his victory there one year ago and his experience to provide another great showing. Battling against a world-class field, Vansummeren managed a top ten finish (9th place) and he along with his Garmin mates let the world know they will continue to be a force Photo: Nate Loyal in the world of cycling. News of Garmin’s victories have even made it to Hollywood– actor Mark-Paul Gosselaar flew to Europe to experience the Roubaix race and actually rode with the boys in argyle during a training ride. Gosselaar, who is a Cat-2 racer (pretty impressive!), looked pretty legit riding with the pack and an Edge on his handle bars.
