Fort Lauderdale Boat Show – Day 1 Recap

IMG_0225As anyone at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show knows, it was an extremely wet and windy day today.  There were puddles to jump over, rain coats to be worn and plenty of talk about what direction Hurricane Sandy would be traveling over the next 24 hours.  But this certainly didn’t stop us from having a great first day at FLIBS.

Our booth spans lots 360-363 in the Electronics Pavilion and it looks fantastic.  Many attendees commented on how nicely everything was set up and how the arrangement gave them the freedom and mobility to not only look at many different units but also interact with them as well.  And our entire Garmin crew was more than happy to field any questions that may have come up.

IMG_0264We stayed very busy today and, despite his busy work schedule, had NASCAR Driver Greg Biffle stop by the booth for a couple of hours and sign autographs.   Greg is a big fan of our products and not only uses them in his boat but also uses our aviation equipment in his helicopter.  We are certainly appreciative that he was able to stop by and pose for some pictures and sign some autographs for his fans.

IMG_0253Today, we also debuted a new software update that allows the integration of a Fusion audio system to be controlled by your chartplotter.  We will be releasing the software update soon and is currently for the GPSMAP 4000-series and up.  This integration allows you to control your music by an unobtrusive media bar located on-screen, set the volume for any zones you may have on your boat and even gives the capability of watching videos that you have loaded.  We gave a lot of demonstrations today with the new software and it was well-received, so let us know and we can certainly show you how easy and handy it is to use.

If you’re at Lauderdale, please stop by and say hi.  We’d love to talk to you and hear about your Garmin or answer any questions about your future Garmin.  Stay dry and we’ll see you soon!
