Forerunner fan focuses on NYC

ReservoirFinish_line  For the would-be NYC Marathon runners out there I included a couple of pics in the batch for those who want to visualize the goal. First is the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. This is about the mile 24 mark when you enter the park. You run past the reservoir, which is elevated, but most folks generally don’t notice it on the way in. Then there’s Tavern on the Green. A sign right by the most famous finish line of them all…not a bad place to eat but a better place just to say I finished the NYC Marathon.

It’s been a bit of a slower month training as I have been tapering a bit. Over the past week or so I have been experiencing a little soreness so that just means I should be resting a bit more than I usually do heading into the marathon. It’ll be the sixth time I am running the race and the time off tapering is usually a bit more than I’m used to so hopefully this doesn’t hurt me in any way.

My Goal??? I think I’ve run flat times here in NYC (3:38+) so hopefully I can improve a bit off that mark. We’ll see…with less than a week away and some carbo loading to do we’ll see what happens. Until race day it’ll be a nervous time.

OK, this month’s race/notable runtimes weren’t as good as last month’s but the important thing is I made it out alive…added it’s been a tough schedule.

Oct. 2: Niketown run with Lance Armstrong (fun run)- 5.1 miles in 34:03

Oct. 6: NYRRC – Greta’s Great Gallop – 13.3 miles in 1:38:02

Oct. 14: NYRRC – Staten Island Half Marathon 13.1 miles in 1:33:32

Oct. 20: The Reservoir Dogs- Training Run 17.4 miles in 2:15:46

Oct. 21: Tour De Bronx (Cycling) 26.5 miles in 3:29:46

Oct. 27: Training Run 5.4 miles in 38:36
