Forerunner 920XT “Hidden Features”

The Forerunner 920XT seems like it can do it all. This multisport GPS watch is a triathlete’s best friend as it has running dynamic features, as well as cycling and swimming metrics. Here are three “hidden features” that you may not have known you can utilize on your 920XT.

  1. The Lock Feature

Have you ever accidentally hit your watch buttons and disrupted a workout or race? To avoid this happening, you can enable the lock feature from any screen and during any activity by holding the mode button until the Options menu appears and select “Lock Device”. To unlock the device, hold the mode button until the “Device Unlocked” message appears.

  1. Metronome Feature

Establishing a rhythm is beneficial in a lot of aspects of our life. It helps develop a pattern or schedule that our body gets used to. Using a metronome can help with a running cadence, or the number of strides per minute you take. The Metronome feature must first be enabled in the menu under “Activity Settings” (set it to On). After it is enabled, if you are on the Metronome data screen within the Run profile, you can press and hold the Menu button until the Options menu appears. From the Options menu you can mute the metronome, or change the beats per minute, alert frequency, and the “sounds” of the metronome (beeper and/or vibration). You are able to do this regardless if you have the activity timer running meaning you don’t have to stop the activity timer to make changes to the metronome or dig through the standard menu options.

  1. Pool Size Shortcut

If you frequently swim in different pool lengths, you can quickly and easily change the size of the pool in 2 short steps. If you are on any data screen within the “Pool Swim” profile, you can press and hold the Menu button until the Options menu appears. From the Options menu you can quickly and easily change the Pool Size setting.
