FAA Announces ADS-B Rebate Program
On Monday, the FAA announced that beginning this fall, they would be offering a $500 ADS-B rebate program to help owners of single-engine piston aircraft offset costs for the upcoming mandate deadline. With this landmark announcement, the agency hopes to stimulate ADS-B installations and incentivize aircraft owners to install sooner, rather than later. This opens the door for owners and operators to take advantage of additional savings on our popular ADS-B solutions including the GTX 345 series all-in-one ADS-B transponders, as well as our GDL 84 and GDL 88 dual-link ADS-B transceivers, featuring our patented AutoSquawk technology.
In order to meet the eligibility for the ADS-B rebate program, your aircraft must meet all of the following requirements:
- U.S. registered (first registered before Jan. 1, 2016)
- Single-engine piston
- Fixed-wing
- Not currently equipped with Version 2 ADS-B Out
Only 20,000 rebates will be available on a first-come, first-served basis – one rebate per aircraft owner – so it’s encouraged to apply as soon as the program is launched! According to the FAA, it will announce the effective date for the rebate program soon.
The FAA estimates that as many as 160,000 aircraft still need to be ADS-B equipped before the January 1, 2020 deadline.
