Extreme Temperatures, Arctic Canadian Winds and White-Out Conditions Were No Match for GPSMAP 78s

BeforeJim Baird1 we ventured out onto the sea ice we had to change our route at the last minute. The route we had initially chosen was not safe because of unstable sea ice conditions. Although I only got my hands on the 78s right before I left on my expedition, I found the unit very easy to use. I didn’t even have to crack the manual. I plotted our new route on the device while braving the Arctic winds. I was also impressed at how well Adventurer_3.25.11 the unit stood up to the cold. The screen on the 78s worked at 40 below. I’m glad it did because the temperature dropped at a crucial moment while we made a daunting crossing on Prince Albert Sound.

I felt a deep feeling of satisfaction after finishing the trip. It was an epic expedition, and very few people can say they have done anything like it. There are so many things I learned from the adventure and I got to test the durability of a lot of gear. I know I’ll be bringing my Garmin 78s with me on future adventures.
