Chet’s Corner: Customizing your device…
As we release more and more custom vehicle icons for the compatible nüvi and StreetPilot units, we get more and more questions from people who want to create their own custom icons. You can’t make your own custom icons for your device right now, but what you can do is choose from our ever-expanding list of custom vehicle icons.
In fact, there are so many new icons, I didn’t even know some of them existed. I can’t really decide if the flame car or the tank are my favorite, but I don’t think I have to make that decision quite yet.
Another way to customize your device is to put your own custom splash screen on it. The automotive devices that can take custom vehicle icons will turn into a USB mass storage device when plugged into your computer. Once you do that, you can load your own pictures onto the device. Then, with your own images on the unit, you can go into the display settings and choose one of those images to display when you power up your GPS.
