Catching crappie with G3 Sportsman and the echo 550c
G3 Sportsman host, Scott Turnage, just returned from a trip to Stockton Lake, in southwest Missouri, to test the Garmin echo 550c in finding deep-water crappie. Scott knows the importance of a good graph, and in the video below, he shows us how to not only find fish on the graph, but how to distinguish crappie from other species of fish. With the echo 550c, Scott and the G3 Sportsman crew were able to locate brush piles with suspending crappie and could even see their small 1/16oz jigs as they lowered them down to as much as 35 feet deep.
Scott explains that in cold temperature water, crappie can be finicky and the bait needs to be to be in the fish's face. With the echo 550c, the guys could see their jigs fall to the proper depth and then watched as the fish moved towards their bait. "It's like playing a video game - one after another was caught," Scott said.
After a successful trip out on the water with the echo 550c, Scott and the crew had this to say: "Affordable and dependable (fishfinders) are what fisherman these days are needing – without sacrificing quality. The Garmin echo 550c more than held its own on this trip."
