Cameron Meyer takes leader’s jersey in Tour Down Under

Meyers win If a stage win is sweet, clenching a win on home soil is sweeter still. Team Garmin-Cervélo’s Cameron Meyer did just that, winning Stage 4 of the Tour Down Under, for his first victory in a Pro Tour road race. Teammate Matt Wilson accompanied Meyer on a decisive breakaway that resulted in Meyer claiming the leader’s jersey and Wilson finishing in 4th.

"It's always hard to stay away, especially in this race, [which is]renowned for the sprints," said Meyer after the finish. "We worked really well together; it's a credit to the break, it's a credit to my teammate Matt Wilson."

"It’s going to be hard to keep the jersey but we are going to give it a red hot go. Tomorrow is one of the longest stages so maybe let a break go and take the time bonuses and let the sprinters’ teams bring it back. The time bonuses over the next two days will make it hard for sure.”

Follow the action for the remaining two stages as Meyer and his teammates work to defend his overall lead.
